Runway Reconstruction at the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport |
This project consisted of the reconstruction of approximately 800 L.F. of Runway, reconstruction of 2 connector taxiways and construction of a new connector Taxiway. Work items for this project included Portland cement concrete paving for the runway and taxiways, bituminous concrete paving for shoulders, drainage structure adjustment, runway and taxiway centerline and edge light installation, and pavement marking and grooving. The project also included the installation of a 30,000 gallon spent glycol recovery tank. The project was located in the Air Operations Area. The key to making this project a success was completing Phase I (Runway Work) in 90 calendar days. Phase I consisted of; complete removal and replacement of concrete pavement and base; installation of runway centerline and edge lights, and grooving new concrete pavement. The Harper Company exceeded this challenge by completing the work in 80 calendar days and received the maximum incentive of $100,000.00. The overall completion of the project was ahead of schedule as well. |
